Richard M. Newman, M.D., FACS
Dr. Newman came to Connecticut from Bellevue Hospital in New York City where, in addition to performing surgery, he was an Assistant Professor of Surgery. He received his medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York.
He completed a fellowship in Laparoscopic Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery after finishing his surgical residency at New York University Medical Center.
Dr. Newman is board certified in general surgery and is an active member of The American College of Surgeons. He came to Hartford in 2001 where he worked in a private surgical practice and was Co-Director of The Minimally Invasive Surgery Center at St. Francis Hospital. Dr. Newman opened his own practice, Minimally Invasive Surgeons of Greater Hartford, in 2003.
He continues to pursue his interests in minimally invasive surgery and attends several surgical conferences each year in order to keep current his expertise in emerging medical technology. His clinical interests lie in minimally invasive hepatobiliary and pancreatic, adrenal gland, and thyroid and parathyroid surgery, as well as other abdominal surgery.
